Social Justice
Catholic social services supports the justice and peace work of the Archdiocese of Wellington.
This includes organising parishes and groups to prepare homes for former refugees who are being settled in Wellington. We also coordinate the Kaikoura/Marlborough earthquake response for the Archdiocese, and respond to poverty through submissions to Parliament and support for beneficiaries.
The Archdiocesan Catholic Commission for Justice, Peace and Development advises the Archbishop and the Archdiocese on our response to a range of social issues, and supports engagement with voters and decision makers, such as through our recent Housing election forum.
